Cardiff Road at Treforest (former Merthyr to Cardiff trunk road) carried the Doctor's Tramroad from Hafod Collieries in the Rhondda and Pwllgwaun Pit in Pontypridd to the canal having crossed the Taff at Machine Bridge beyond trees upper centre. The building at right is the former Hide and Wool Market which lay adjacent to the canal head.
